Create Views by Room & Category
Create floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations and sections for every room or every category you select — with your view templates already applied.
When to use it
Interior documentation (four elevations per room), per-level plans by discipline, or category-focused views (casework, plumbing, structure) across a whole model.
Add the task
Open the task queue and add Create Views.
Choose the scope
- By room — pick rooms (or all rooms on selected levels). SDW creates the view set you choose per room and crops each view to the room boundary.
- By category — pick model categories; SDW creates views scoped and filtered to those categories.
Pick view types and templates
For each view kind (plan, RCP, elevation, section) choose the view family type and the view template to apply. Naming follows a pattern you control, e.g. ROOM NUMBER - ROOM NAME - ELEVATION LETTER.
Run and review
Run the queue. Created views land in the Project Browser under their view type, named by your pattern, cropped and templated. Re-running skips views that already exist with the same name.
Tips
- Set up view templates before the run — a template change afterwards means touching every view.
- Pair with Place Views On Sheets to lay the new views out immediately.
